Everything you need to know about Hyesun low nose bridge eyewear

  • Hyesun is designed for people who struggle to find sunglasses that fit particularly those with low nose bridges, a fit issue common in many Asian faces.

If sunglasses usually slip off your nose, rest on your cheeks or pinch at the temples, this is what we’ve designed for.

Our sunglasses are proportioned to sit comfortably across the face without squeezing. If that sounds familiar, Hyesun was designed with you in mind.

  • Most sunglasses in Australia are designed for higher nose bridges. For people with low nose bridges, this means there isn’t enough support at the bridge, causing sunglasses to slip down the nose and rest on the cheeks.

Hyesun was designed to solve this. We use a narrower nose bridge, integrated elevated support, and a flatter overall profile so the sunglasses sit securely, lift off the cheeks, and feel balanced on the face.

The result is sunglasses that stay in place, feel comfortable, and don’t need constant adjusting.

  • Your nose bridge is the area at the top of your nose where sunglasses usually rest. If this part of your nose sits lower and flatter in relation to your eyes and cheekbones, you’re considered to have a low nose bridge.

    Anatomically, this often means:

    - The bridge of your nose is at the same height or lower than your pupils

    - Your cheekbones sit higher relative to your nose

    - There’s less natural “shelf” for sunglasses to grip onto

Because most sunglasses are designed to sit on a higher, more pronounced bridge, they rely on that height for support. On a low nose bridge, this causes sunglasses to slide down, sit on the cheeks, or feel unstable even if the width feels right.

Low nose bridges are common in many Asian faces, but they’re not exclusive to one ethnicity, they’re simply a variation in facial structure that affects how eyewear sits.

  • Not at all. While Hyesun was designed to solve fit issues common with low nose bridges, the result is sunglasses that feel comfortable across a range of nose bridge heights.

People with higher nose bridges often describe our fit as more balanced, meaning the sunglasses sit slightly more elevated on the bridge, don’t press into the cheeks, and feel evenly supported rather than top-heavy.

That said, our designs do lean slightly oversized and tend to suit medium to larger face shapes best. If you prefer a very small or narrow fit, please reach out for a virtual fitting consult hello@hyesun.com.au.

  • Yes you can! Hyesun sunglasses are made from Mazzucchelli M49 acetate, a high-quality, plant-based material known for its durability and flexibility.

M49 is a cellulose acetate that uses a plasticiser of vegetable origin, making it a more considered alternative to traditional plastics, without compromising on strength or longevity.

This flexibility means the sunglasses can be gently adjusted for a more comfortable fit if needed. We’ve put together a simple step-by-step guide to show you how to adjust them safely. Read the guide →

  • All Hyesun sunglasses are compliant with Australian and New Zealand standards (AS/NZS 1067), some of the most stringent eyewear standards in the world.

Hyesun lenses range from Category 1 to Category 3, which refers to the level of tint and visible light reduction. You can find lens information on each product.

  • We offer 7-day returns on full-price purchases, so you can try them on properly and decide at home. We’d rather you love them than keep something that isn’t right. See our returns policy for more info.

  • Yes. An optometrist can fit prescription lenses into Hyesun sunglasses. They’re made from durable Italian acetate, which makes lens fitting straightforward.

If you have a stronger prescription and know your lenses tend to be thicker, it’s worth asking your optometrist whether they’ll suit the frame size and shape. If they for any reason your script does not suit, you’re covered by our seven-day return policy.

  • Not right now. We may introduce polarisation in future, but our current CR-39 lenses are already chosen for optical clarity, impact resistance and their light, comfortable feel. It’s a premium lens material that delivers crisp vision.

  • A flatter profile brings the lenses closer to the face, which works beautifully on low nose bridges. It reduces visual “gapping” at the top of the frame and helps the sunglasses sit securely, rather than hovering or tilting forward.
