How to tell if you have a low nose bridge

How to tell if you have a low nose bridge

If you’ve ever had sunglasses that constantly slide down your nose, sit awkwardly on your cheeks, or leave red marks after just ten minutes of wear, it’s probably not you. It’s the fit.

Most sunglasses in Australia are designed with a single type of face shape in mind. They tend to assume a high nose bridge, narrow temples, and sharp angles. That leaves out a huge number of people with lower nose bridges, rounder cheeks, or softer features, especially common across Asian, Middle Eastern, and Indigenous backgrounds.

If that sounds like you, here's how to tell whether you're dealing with a low nose bridge and why it matters.

1. Your Nose Bridge Starts Closer to Your Eyes

Look at your profile in the mirror. If the bridge of your nose begins near your eye line (rather than between your eyes), that’s a classic low bridge.

This often results in a gentler slope down the nose and a softer, rounder mid-face area.

2. Your Sunglasses Sit on Your Cheeks

When your frames rest on your cheeks rather than sitting securely on your nose, they’re not elevated enough for your facial structure. This can cause smudging, skin irritation, and an unstable feel—especially when you smile.

3. Your Sunglasses Slide Constantly

If you find yourself pushing your sunglasses up all day, you're not alone. This is one of the most common problems people with low nose bridges face. Without proper support, sunglasses can’t find a secure anchor point, so they slip.

4. There’s a Gap Between the Sunglasses and Your Forehead

Do your sunglasses tilt forward and leave a noticeable space between the top of the frame and your forehead? That means the frames are sitting too low and angled incorrectly. This not only affects how they look but also how well they shield your eyes from the sun.

Why Hyesun Sunglasses Work Differently

Most eyewear brands start with a generic mould and adjust from there. We didn’t.

We built our frames from scratch, because the kind of face we were designing for wasn’t represented in standard moulds to begin with. Our goal wasn’t just to tweak an existing design. It was to reinvent the starting point entirely.

We worked through two full rounds of research and development before getting our fit right. Not just technically, but emotionally. Because for people who have never felt seen in the eyewear space, getting the details right matters.

Here’s what makes Hyesun sunglasses different:

  • Elevated bridge support that keeps your sunglasses comfortably in place without pinching or slipping.

  • Extra acetate padding at the nose bridge for a gentle, grippy fit that holds all day.

  • Ultra-narrow bridge width that supports low-set bridges without extra nose pads or awkward gaps.

  • A flat profile to stop frames from resting on your cheeks when you smile or speak.

  • Zero curvature design that prevents the arms from pressing into your temples.

We didn’t just want to accommodate different features. We wanted to centre them. Every measurement we made, every angle we considered, was intentional. Because we believe that fit is more than comfort. It’s confidence. It’s identity. It’s a feeling of finally being seen.

Not Sure Where You Fit?

That’s okay. Our mission is not to box people in, but to give you options that were actually designed with your features in mind.
